Crochet and crafts by Louise
I would like to update the blog with makes that I have made before the blog existed. Here is the first of many.
I agreed to make some samples for Karina at Rainbow Fusions for her to take to shows that she was attending with her beautiful yarn. This little lot was made from one skein of 4ply yarn. You can’t tell from the angle of this picture but there is a sparkle to the yarn. It was so beautiful and easy to work with.
UPDATE
I’ve just realised that I hadn’t updated that the Iris Hat is now finished. To be honest, it’s been finished for months!
The pictures don’t show the correct colour, it is much more purple than this.
I have had lots of comments about the colour as it is so lovely. My only criticism is that it isn’t the warmest when it is windy. Other than that, it’s a great hat and I will definitely make another.

It looks like I am back on to hats but this time for a pattern test for Forgetmeknotpa who can be found on Instagram.
I have only just started the test any have only completed the first 4 rounds but it is looking pretty so far.
The yarn is Sirdair Giselle which is a an aran yarn in shade 0131.

I can’t believe that Christmas eve is already a week ago. Where has the last week gone?
I can now reveal another Christmas make as the new owner now has received their gift.
This hat is another from the Amigurumi Animal Hats by Linda Wright.
The recipient is a Birman cat owner and so the hat needed to reflect this with dark brown (Stylecraft Special Aran in dark brown) and cream yarn (King Cole Big Value Aran in berber) along with blue eyes.
The first Christmas gift has been completed and it is still only November!
The pattern is by Dedri Uys from LookatwhatImade and is called Smile of Joy scarf.
The yarn is Women’s Institute Soft and Smooth aran in Lilac from Hobbycraft.

This cat hat was made for a friend after making character hats for her daughters; one requested a flamingo and the other asked for a chihuahua.
2 strands of Stylecraft aran was used. The colours are silver, graphite and fondant. The eyes are safety eyes from Woolwarehouse. The pattern is from Animal Hats by Linda Wright.
The new owner was very pleased as the hat is lovely and warm.

I recently completed a pattern test for the published author https://www.edieeckman.com.
I used King Cole 4 Big Value ply in graphite and plum and Stylecraft Life 4 ply in black.
I really enjoyed this project as the pattern was easy to follow and gave clear instructions. It also comes with a chart for those who prefer to use this type of pattern. There was enough of a challenge as each row was different to the last but once you had memorised the pattern repeat, it was straight forward to complete. It was a nice project to do in the evening in front of the TV.
